Guest minister Mark Richards will be with us on this Memorial Day weekend.
The words “white supremacy” conjure up visions of shaved heads and tattooed necks. It’s no wonder that we white folks resist conversations where the term is applied. But if constructive conversations about eliminating racism in America are going to be had, we need to be able to talk about a system that privileges us . . . and we need to talk about it among ourselves.
This talk will introduce some ideas about why we are so uncomfortable talking about the privilege we inherited. In the end, we will be left with a context that allows us to hold the hard truth with tenderness, so we can move forward in dismantling our system of white supremacy.
