Good Food, Healthy Eating: A Balanced Approach to Nutrition

Have you wondered ‘Am I eating the right food?’  Meghan Jaszczak brings a grounded and realistic view to incorporating healthy eating habits into your lifestyle. Topics discussed include: diet vs. nutrition, metabolism, diet trends, fundamental components of nutrition, habits that can make a difference, and setting goals.  As an example, this past summer, she co-hosted a virtual cooking series in partnership with the Portage Lake District Library.  Called “Biblio Bistro” focusing on using local ingredients, breaking down barriers in the kitchen, and learning about the  health benefits of the ingredients used.
Meghan Jaszczak (Shoup) is a registered dietitian at Portage Health Foundation as their Community Health Educator.  She is involved in creating and supporting programs that improve food access, nutrition education, and nutrition outreach in our community.  Previously, Meghan worked as a clinical dietitian at the UP Health System – Portage.  She has a Bachelors of Science in Dietetics from Michigan State University and completed her dietetic internship at the University of Wisconsin – Green Bay.  She was raised in Houghton and is passionate about giving back to the community that she grew up in.  In her free time, she enjoys jogging, swimming, cooking, and hiking with her wheaten terrier, Fig.
