Keweenaw Unitarian Universalist Fellowship (KUUF) members and retired Michigan Tech professors, Craig Waddell and Vicky Bergvall, will lead a panel discussion on the various considerations for ‘Aging in Place.’ A 2021 AARP survey found that “77 percent of adults 50 and older want to remain in their homes for the long term, i.e. aging in place — a number that has been consistent for more than a decade.” But are seniors adequately prepared for the challenges and considerations?
Because aging in place is a multifaceted issue, the following KUUF members will speak briefly from their own experience on the following topics:
- Jenn Donovan: Aging in place in your own home.
- Jan Dalquist: Aging in place in a senior community.
- Barbara Wheeler: Helping someone else who wants to age in place.
- Sandra Loy: Aging in place from the perspective of a first responder.
- Horst Schmidt: Is there a role for government(s) in aging in place?
All are invited to attend the forum which will be presented via Zoom only.
